Since the mid-1990s, Neumarkt has been the new centre of Chemnitz' urban planning. The square combines various buildings of classical architecture in a small space. The fully glazed commercial building of Peek and Cloppenburg forms a strong contrast and at the same time complements the mix.
A special element of the commercial building is the three-storey high atrium of the entrance area. The light space creates an optical connection to the external environment. The curved roof of the commercial building adopts the different eaves heights of the adjacent buildings by means of elevations.
