The Radevormwald site serves GIRA as the head office and production site for electrical installation systems. The purchase of a neighbouring plot of land gave the company the opportunity to expand the factory premises.
Two 70 metre long and completely glazed buildings were created, which completely reinterpret the theme of factory construction. They offer space for an innovative interaction between production and administration. The traditional separation of these two work areas has been abolished in favour of a better workflow and short communication channels. The upper floors are designed as open-plan offices and support the open space concept.
The buildings gain their characteristic form through a steel arch construction that spans a column-free space. Their shape is not chosen arbitrarily, but corresponds to the static forces acting in the axes.
