The engineering center was built as the flagship of the global automotive supplier Dürr Systems and is now the headquarters of Porsche Holding. The five-story new building offers flexible workplaces for around 300 employees. The focal point is the glass entrance hall, which is also a link to the old building. The resulting continuous space promotes communication among employees. The large steel-glass facade enables natural lighting of the work areas.

The Dürr engineering center was Ben Dieckmann's first project as a general planner. In the tradition of classic modernism, it creates a strong spatial order and calm through technically minimized details. The use of materials is concentrated on steel, glass and concrete.

The building was one of the five finalists of the European Mies van der Rohe Award in 2001.
