The industrial age at a glance
The hillside location of the property in the south of Essen offers a clear view over Lake Baldeney to Villa Hügel, the symbol of the age of industrialization in Germany. In the architecture of the family home, industrial construction meets classic modernity. The concept picks up on the history of the place and continues it. The exposed concrete walls are reminiscent of the material frugality of industrial buildings and enable a slim design.
The floor plans of the two basement floors of the conventional solid construction are characterized by their openness. Light, reduced linearity and functionality determine the rooms on these floors. The private rooms are located on the upper floor. The location on the hillside means that the two-story building facing the street is three-story facing the lake.
